I love doing reviews, and this time I get to review something that is for ME! If you know anything about me, then you know that I LOVE planners. I love to write things down. I love to TRY and keep a plan or a schedule of things going on in my life. I am old school and trying to keep a schedule on technology just doesn't work for me. I am super excited to be using the Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 by none other than The Old Schoolhouse.
Homeschooling is a great task. Keeping it all together so that you don't lose your mind is an even greater task. I have learned (the hard way) in my last 3 years of homeschool that if you don't plan, then it's very hard to try and get things done. My kids crave a plan. They do not like to fly by the seat of their pants when it comes to their lessons. They want to know exactly what they need to do for that day. Planning out their lessons can be a time consuming task, especially if you don't have a good planner to put it all down in. I know for myself, I need it all in one space. By the end of the year, this planner will be like my best friend.
What sets the Hey Mama! Planner apart from other planners?
There are a lot of planners on the market, but I can promise you there isn't one that can come close to the inspirational messages that Gena Suarez, Publisher at The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, delivers to you in this planner. It's actually my favorite part about it.

I can guarantee that each one of her messages will be on time and something you need to hear. When you need a hug or even just a pat on the back, you can look back to your Hey Mama! inspirational messages, and get that extra push that we sometimes need to get through the day.
The breakdown of the Hey Mama! Planner
As if the Hey Mama! messages in this planner aren't enough, you will get a 192 page, spiral bound notebook style planner filled with all of the essentials! This is a full year planner starting in July 2016 and ending in June 2017!
When you first dive into this planner, you will have a full page each of the 2016, 2017, and 2018 calendars to help you see the year at a glance. Next, you will have a Hey Mama! message and a page to write down your notes for that month.
The month's calendar with divided squares for each day will follow. Plenty of room to write anything from what's for dinner to your plans for that day. Also, another good way to see your month at a glance. It makes it easier to plan field trips etc that way!
The next part of the planner will have your weekly lesson plan pages. You will have the capability to plan for multiple children. There is plenty of space to write the day's lesson plans in the rectangles provided.
The planner continues with the Hey Mama! inspirational messages sprinkled throughout. Also, for a nice bonus, there are some wonderful pictures of antique items and explanations of how they were used. This is also a favorite part of mine, considering I love these types of things!
As we continue through the planner you will be nicely surprised at all of the extras that are in it. It's a lot more than just a calendar and lesson planner. You will see that there are some pages called Monthly Goals. This is great for jotting down what you want to cover that month in different areas of your school.
Just like the monthly goals, there is a set of pages dedicated to semester goals and also yearly goals.
Next up, we have the Attendance Charts with easy check off boxes. These would be perfect for someone who has to keep up with attendance. They are available for up to 5 children!
Everything has been thought of with this planner! There is a section for books that have been read this year! What a great way to keep track of personal books, or read a louds!
Also added to make life just a little easier, is the Curriculum Planner Sheets! This is a great way to keep that wish list going for curriculum!
