If you've been following my blog then you know just how much I love these audio dramas. This review is over The Cat of Bubastes by Heirloom Audio Productions, and it is my favorite so far! Again, just like before, I was super excited to see another audio drama come up for review. Heirloom Audio goes above and beyond to draw the listener in and capture their attention with every story. They really do bring these books to life with their sound effects and beautifully written sound track, plus all of the wonderful extras that go along with it.
If this is your first time hearing about Heirloom Audio Productions, then let me tell you a little bit about what they do. They are known for recreating the stories of the legendary G.A. Henty. Mr. Henty was a war correspondent, a big guy with a big beard, who lived for adventure. Unless you've lived under a rock, then you know he was a master story teller. He loved to share his stories with his family, and throughout the years, he went on to write 122 books! Heirloom Audio takes these stories and makes them come alive. I am an avid book lover, and recently have even given audio books a try so I could listen and crochet at the same time. This is like no audio book. It truly is an adventure that allows your imagination to run wild, and it gives you a clear picture of what is going on throughout it.
What did we receive for this review?
We are really blessed every time we get to review something from Heirloom Audio Productions. Not only did we receive the 2 CD set, but also all of the spectacular components that go with it.
I just have to take a moment to say that the packaging and inserts on these CDs are always beautifully done. It's so colorful and inviting! Ok so along with the 2 CD set, we also received the extras available for download, and they really do a great job of covering everything you need.
- Cat of Bubastes MP3 download - I love having this option. Sometimes you don't always have a way to play the CDs so you can download the MP3's to your phone or other device and listen literally anywhere. I like to turn it on in my car on long trips!
- Cat of Bubastes E-book - This is the original with new colorful graphics. I love having the option to read the book!
- Official MP3 soundtrack - Another original score by Emmy winning composer, John Campbell.
- Printable Cast Poster - Beautiful and colorful poster with a picture of the cast members.
- Inspriational Verse Poster - Absolutely gorgeous poster that has the verse 1Chronicles 17:20 on it.
- Live the Letter Adventure - You will receive unlimited access to this e-news letter.
- Behind the Scenes Video - This will take you behind the scenes with the cast and crew.
- Study Guide and Discussion Packet - This is such a wonderful tool that they include. I like to take the study guide and go over it after each track. It's 50 pages of discussion topics that will help you really dig deep into the story.
I also want to make sure I note that Heirloom Audio Productions always uses a star studded cast to bring these audio adventures to life. You will most likely recognize some of the stars that they use. They all do such a wonderful job of reeling you in and making you feel like you are there with them. You don't need a screen, because they give you a clear image of what's going on with their voices and sound effects.
About The Cat of Bubastes
I absolutely loved this story and the characters in it. Our story starts with Amuba, a 16 year old prince who lost his father when he was killed in battle. Amuba and his care taker, Jethro, are taken captive and brought to Egypt to be slaves in Thebes. They end up with an Egyptian high priest, Ameres, and his family who are very kind to them. Ameres' son Chebron and Amuba end up being very good friends. Chebron and Amuba share many adventures throughout the story. When the Cat of Bubastes dies, the family's cat is named the new sacred cat. The only problem is that tragedy strikes with Chebron and the cat. Because of this, they have to run for their lives. There is adventure at every corner of this story. I love the fact that even Moses made an appearance in the story! That will tell you just how far back this is set!
What did we think?
I love all of these audio dramas, but this was definitely my favorite! Like the others, it's also over 2 hours of story adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are brought to life and the story tellers pull you in, so that you feel like you are right there in the story with them. I recommend these to anyone, young or old! I love how this story taught valuable lessons and who the one true God is! If you are looking for some educational and wholesome entertainment, The Cat of Bubastes by Heirloom Audio Productions is a great place to start!
