Have you ever just wanted to grab a cup of coffee with a seasoned homeschool mom and soak in her wealth of knowledge? It can be so inspiring and encouraging! Homeschool Rescue from Only Passionate Curiosity, is a course I have been working on for the last couple of weeks, and it has been both of those things plus so much more. I would even venture to say that it can be more than a homeschool rescue, it can be a homeschool life saver!
Homeschooling can be rewarding, but also very overwhelming. I can tell you that there have been times that I have been so overwhelmed, that I have actually questioned what God was calling me to do. It can be tough to juggle family and life in general, but throw homeschooling in the mix, and it can get downright chaotic. Sometimes we need a gentle push to see where we are struggling, and try and fix those issues for the better of our school and our sanity.
Homeschool Rescue is an online course created by Heather, a blogging homeschool mom to 4. At one point, she found herself in a homeschool crises, and had to learn the hard way to get it all back together. She wanted to help other moms, who might be struggling with their homeschool, and give them the tools that they need to become a more confident homeschool mom.
With this course, the first thing you need to do is sit back, grab a cup of coffee, find a quiet space, and let Heather's soothing voice take you away from the chaos. At first, I honestly thought how in the world would I have time to do this, even though I wanted and needed it so much. Well once you get started, it is so easy. I found myself wanting to listen to more and more because I was at a place that I needed some serious encouragement. One thing I love, and there are so many, is that Heather goes to great lengths to help not only with homeschool, but to get your life together and organized on a greater level.
The layout of Homeschool Rescue is easy to follow. Heather definitely kept the busy and tired homeschool mom in mind when she designed this. The entire series is based on modules, and within each module are lessons that coincide with it.
So let's talk about the actual modules. Each module is a wealth of help, encouragement and information. There are 5 modules all together with lessons included in each one, and a bonus section that includes the Member's Only Facebook Group, an Accountability Pack, and Planners of all different styles.
In Module 1, it's all about taking a minute to get yourself together. It may be a little tough love, but it will make you truly step back and take a good look at yourself and your homeschool. Module 2 was a good one for me. Do you have a problem saying no? Heather can help you learn to say no gracefully, so that you can concentrate more on keeping your homeschool organized. Get tips and tricks to de-clutter your house so that you're not so overwhelmed with it all. Two of my favorite things are the 40 week de-cluttering challenge and also the monthly cleaning rotation. Both are now being utilized in my home!
Module 3 Now it's time to talk curriculum and planning. Heather can help you learn to choose curriculum that suits your child's learning style. (This is where I'm currently at in the program.)
Module 4 is all about setting our students up for success. I'm excited to get to this module because there's nothing I want more than to see my children succeed! Heather talks about reward systems, consequences, training children, and more.
Module 5 is another one that I'm excited about. Teaching teens, study skills, and time management are the topics here. These are all areas that I can always use tips on.
As I said before, you will see that each Module has several different lessons. After you've watched the presentation on that lesson, you will get to the Dig Deeper and Work it Out section. This is where Heather gives you homework to work on. It's such a little bit at a time that it doesn't add to your already overwhelming stack of stuff. Also, it's fun. I found it even more exciting to get my homeschool back on track as I worked on the homework. I could really start to see where our weak spots were in our school. A lot of times putting things on paper shows you a whole different way of looking at things.
So I'm to the part in my review where I would normally ask "What did we think?" I hope I have conveyed to you that this is a must have program for any homeschooling mom. My only regret is that I didn't have this course when I started homeschooling years ago. What an awesome treat for the beginning homeschool mom too! It's something she could have for years to come, and look back on if she sees herself falling into some problems.
